Why Exercise? Your Body Is Begging For It

We live in a society where it is very easy to stray away from physical activity. We have technology that can do virtually anything we need it to and can complete pretty much any task necessary, making us increasingly more inactive. This isn’t a bad thing necessarily, but everyone needs some level of physical exercise in order to remain healthy. The benefits of exercising are seemingless endless, however, many people overlook or are simply unaware of the extent to which their lives can be made more positive. So what are these miraculous pros of exercise?

Physical Health

Physical exercise helps you manage your weight. This should be common knowledge, as we all know the best way to slim down is to start working out and eating a more healthy balanced diet, yet still, some people feel unmotivated.  Weight management ties into another benefit of exercise, which is reducing the risk of diabetes and heart disease. 

Studies show that routine exercise helps to regulate your metabolism and insulin levels, helping to keep your body healthy. Exercise also helps to strengthen your muscles and bones, helping to prevent fractures and falls. It also helps people to fall asleep faster and to sleep for longer periods of time. Some studies have even found that regular physical fitness can help to prevent some forms of cancer. Finally, exercise has been found to help with skin health, as it increases your body’s production of antioxidants.

Mental Health

Our bodies are basically machines managed by our brains. When our physical self is healthy, our mental state is affected in positive ways. Exercise has proven to help make people feel happier and better about themselves. This makes it a top combatant to depression and anxiety. Many studies have proven that routine exercise helps to regulate your moods and alleviate stress. 

Conversely, physical exercise has also been shown to help elevate your energy levels. Studies have gone as far as to prove that exercise helps to aid chronic fatigue disorders such as fatigue syndrome. Physical fitness has also been proven to help you focus. In fact, exercise is an integral addition to treatment plans battling the effects of disorders such as ADHD and ADD. 

Along with increasing your focus, it also helps improve your memory. Working out has been proven to boost the brain’s dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin levels which helps with all sorts of different cognitive functions. Finally, exercise has proven to help build mental resilience, keeping your head in the game during the course of life’s ups and downs.
